
Hwarang Youth Foundation, based in the United States in LA (President Park Yoon-sook), commemorated the 70th anniversary of the ROK-US alliance by hosting the 'Korean American Youth Identity Forum' at the LA Korean Education Center on the 17th.
(Seoul=Yonhap News) Reporter Kang Sung-chul - Hwarang Youth Foundation, headquartered in Los Angeles, announced on the 20th that, in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the ROK-US alliance, it hosted the 'Korean American Youth Identity Forum' to inform Korean American youth about the history of the alliance between the two countries and inspire leadership.
The event held on the 18th at the LA Korean Education Center featured speakers such as Kang Seok-hee, Regional Director of the Federal Procurement Agency, Hannah Kim, representative of Remember727, an organization honoring Korean War veterans, and Elmer Loys Williams, a retired lieutenant colonel who received the Republic of Korea Taegeuk Military Merit Medal for his service as a Korean War veteran.
They presented information about the Korean War and the participation of the US military, as well as the current reality of the division between North and South Korea, to around 200 Korean American youth.
Colonel Williams, who achieved the feat of winning solo aerial combat against seven Soviet fighter planes during the Korean War, expressed gratitude, stating that the sacrifices of his comrades were not in vain, as they contributed to the impressive development of the Republic of Korea we see today, safeguarded by their sacrifices.
