Wick
INTRODUCTION
Hwarang Wick is a Hwarang chapter composed of passionate students from Chadwick International.
Founded in 2017, the members of Hwarang Wick participated in many services - both regionally and internationally
- to help improve our community in various aspects such as education, environment, medical, and more.
Before COVID-19, Hwarang primarily participated in the Philippines service learning trip
where we actually went to 2 schools in the Philippines and donated textbooks, taught Korean history, installed solar panels, and gave lifestraws.
Currently, due to COVID-19, Hwarang Wick has been focusing on online teaching classes to various students worldwide. First, in our Wick-Global service education, our members teach Korean-American children the Korean language, culture, and history. Second, we also teach Korean and English to refugees (primarily women and children) from Southeast Asia through the Baraka Little Library service. Third, we take part in the Seonhak English education for children in the Seonhak facility. Apart from our online education service learning, we are trying to participate in offline activities as well. In every 2 weeks, 3-4 Hwarang members go around a small community or tenement to hand out free bread and milk to grandparents.
화랑윅 챕터는 채드윅국제학교 학생들에 의해서 만들어진 챕터입니다.
화랑윅 챕터는 2017년부터 활동을 시작했으며, 교육, 환경, 의료 활동등과 같이 여러활동들을 통하여 송도지역 뿐 만 아니라 국제적으로 봉사활동을 진행 해 왔습니다.
코로나19 팬데믹 이전에는, 화랑윅은 필리핀 라보지역과 네팔등을 방문하여서비스 활동을 진행했습니다 필리핀에 있는 2곳의 학교를 방문하여,
책과 문구류를, 그리고 보육원을 방문하여 기부금을 전달하고, 지역사회에 필요한 태양광 판넬과 정수 시스템을 설치 했습니다.
현재는 코로나로 인해 계획된 대면 봉사활동이 중단되어, 온라인으로 진행하는 봉사 활동에 집중하고 있습니다.
첫째 글로벌 서비스로, 미국에 살고 있는 교포학생들을 위한 한국어 교육과 문화를 가르치고,
둘째로 이태원 난민 시설에 있는 난민들에게 한국어와 영어를 가르치는 봉사를 하고 있습니다.
셋째로 송도 인근에 위치한 선학 복지관 아이들에게 영어를 가르치고 있습니다.
마지막으로, 한 달에 두 번씩 인천 지역에 있는 노숙자와 쪽방촌 거주민들께 빵과 우유를 나눠드리는 봉사를 하고 있습니다.
